Throughout Northern Virginia you can find some pretty amazing libraries. The new library in Shirlington is high tech with computer stations and digital library cards that are well beyond the days of librarians writing the due date on the back of a 3 x 5 card.
What many forget about the local library is that they are more than just a stack of books to be checked out. For instance visit a Prince William County Library and you will find an entire program of events scheduled for all ages. Story time is not just about sitting listening to someone read a book but about the activities that you can do that relate to the book as well.
Whimsical Wednesdays, Mind Benders, Jammin’ in the Islands and Buggy ‘Bout Books and just a few of the weekly storytelling activities that take place throughout Prince William County. Want to practice your Spanish then bring your lunch and stop in on Thursdays to practice. Stop by in the evenings for Friday Flicks or Family Craft Night. The list of what you can do is fairly amazing. You can even sit and knit on Wednesday mornings if you want.
Each Prince William County Library offers programs on different days so you will want to pick up one of the monthly calendar of events available at the library or go on line If you haven’t checked out the activities at your local library recently you might want to stop in.
