Do you remember the movie TAPS? Released in 1981 the movie starred George C. Scott, Timothy Hutton and Tom Cruise. The movie was filmed in Wayne PA and on the campus of Valley Forge Military Academy & College (VFMAC).
Yesterday my "cousin" John Rapp who is a graduate of VFMAC, former instructor and active alumni was participating in the activities for Remembrance Day on campus. John also had a couple of cameo scenes in the move Taps as well.
Looking over the quiet campus on Friday it was easy to see why the fictitious cadets from the movie would want to protect this lovely 120 acre campus. Besides the movie characters VFMAC can also boast some notable real former cadets, including Norman Schwarzkopf, Edward Albee, Senator Warren Rudman and J.D. Salinger.
The video is a few scenes from the campus and John playing Taps (how appropriate) in the chapel at the end of the Remembrance Day ceremony.
