Lend A Helping Hand To A Family Left Behind-Holiday Season Stage it Forward

Christmas Tree Ornament
Holidays are one of the hardest times for military families separated by deployment.   It is also one of the best times for friends and neighbors to lend a helping hand. It isn't about money it's about a few minutes or a few hours to help with the little things that need to be done.

Simple things such as helping put up their outside holiday lights or getting the Christmas tree in that pesky stand. How about volunteering to stand in line at the post office or UPS store for them. Does mom or dad need a few hours to get the shopping done? Then offer to keep the children occupied while they head out. Have a video camera? Help the family make a holiday video to post for mom or dad to see. There are so many little things during the holiday season (and all year long) where an extra hand is appreciated.

It is the little things that we do during the holiday season that can have the biggest impact. Lending a helping hand is a precious gift that will be appreciated by not only the family left behind but by their loved one far away.  This year I've helped two families with putting out their Christmas lights and putting getting their Christmas trees home and in the pesky stands.

Share of yourself this holiday season and feel the joy!

What a nice idea! If everyone spent an hour helping, what a difference in the world.

Cindy, such great ways to help military families and neighbors alike.  You're so right that the true joy comes in not giving presents alone ~ but of giving of ourselves!

Lori-it takes so little time to lend a hand.  I've babysat a couple of young kids while mom shopped and helped hang Christmas lights.  It's fun and easy.

As always you are there for our local military families.  Only those of us who know you well know how much you do for our military families and the number of families you've helped when their world was shattered by the unthinkable.

What a great idea Cindy. Single parents would probably appreciate these gestures too. I will follow your lead.

Cindy:  Holidays are stressful when everyone is home and things are good.  Lending a hand to someone whose family member is deployed on military duty is always a great way to pay it forward.

Cindy

It can be very challenging for the military families and reality tough on the kids. A helping hand can mean a lot to the  families.

Goog luck and success.

Ellie-you are right this extends beyond military families.

Chris Ann-I've been there so know how tough it is especially around the holidays.
