If residents of the Landsdowne Community in Alexandria (VA) wanted to walk to Fort Belvoir they could. It is less than ½ mile to the Telegraph Road gate to the base and once inside Telegraph gate you are close to the golf course, PX and Commissary.
The Landsdowne community is a mix of townhouses and detached homes originally built by Pulte and Richmond America in the late 1980's. With just over 600 homes the community pales in comparison to its neighbor Kingstowne's 5800 hundred homes but residents aren't complaining about their small size. With their own community pool, tennis courts and tot lots residents of Landsdowne don't feel deprived.

Besides the close proximity to Fort Belvoir, owners in Landsdowne can also walk to the Landsdowne shopping center and the Kingstowne library. Only a few miles from the Franconia-Springfield or Van Dorn Metro Stations and with easy access to I-95 & I-495 owners who commute to the city or the Pentagon have multiple commuting options, including a Fairfax County Connector bus within walking distance.
When you need more activities you can head to the Lee District Recreation Center or the Greendale Golf Course both run by the Fairfax County Park Authority. The restaurants and movie theaters at Kingstowne are close by as well as historic Mount Vernon and Woodlawn Plantation.

Pulte are excellent builders! Landsdowne looks like a perfect place to live. Any buyer who works with you is very lucky!
I enjoy reading your local posts...I bet you fill up all the google posts with your info! Good for you!
Lansdowne looks like a great community. And the fact that it's in walking distance to Fort Belvior is a bonus.
Jackie-it is a popular neigbhorhood due to not only the ease to Fort Belvoir but elsewhere in the area as well.
Kristin-I don't worry that much about my spot on Google. I know my phone rings and that's what is most important.
Chris Ann-I suspect there is more than one person who rides a bike from Landsdowne on to Fort Belvoir. The only problem with walking, though it is so close is once you get on post you may have a ways to go to get to your building.
It just doesn't get more convenient than this...and isn't Wegman's building a store there at Telegraph and Beulah?
Susan-it is on the plans. It will be a great addition to the area and convenient for Landsdowne and Kingstowne residents.
Communities with a mix of townhouses and single family homes are always nice. Move up buyers that are already there in the townhouses can find a bigger home in the same neighborhood.
Anne-that is one nice thing about many of our "planned" communities. People can move in and stay for a long time.
