Speechless Sunday-30,000 Runners Will Finish Here Today

Marine Corps War Memorial Arlington VA

This morning 30,000 runners took off through the streets of Arlington Va and DC to run the Marine Corps Marathon aka the Peoples Marathon.  It is fitting that the end of the race everyone should see how the dedication and sacrfice of our military keep us free.  Congratulations to all who ran and thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country.

Cindy:  I have the utmost respect for anyone who can run a marathon.  I had a friend training for this one years ago. It was rigorous training, but she did it.

Pat-I think it is a great way to end a race and remember those who made it possible for us to enjoy a beautiful fall day.

Chris Ann-I used to run but not marathons. I've been contemplating gearing back up for a 5K but then I remember that I really didn't enjoy running.

Hi Cindy:

I've never run a marathon..

3K and 5 milers only...

The body doesn't like marathons...hey, it barely likes a one-miler anymore!

Cindy,

I ran the Marines Corps Marathon 5 years ago in 2004.  I'm wearing my jacket from the race today in celebration.  I remember crossing the finish line at Iwo Jima Memorial and it was an inspiring sight at the end of 26.2 miles!

What a great race!

I would so love to run this! the Iwo Jima Memorials is one of my favorite - I have only seen it at night which was amazing - son I will be back on the east coast every few weeks and can't wait to see it again.

Great shot and I'm sure that all of the runners are more than happy to see the memorial when they hit the finish line.

Hi Cindy,

Oh this has got to be such a great event, it's one I've always wanted to do myself. Done 10 marathons, all west coast at this point. My sister and I were both registered for this one in 2001 and after 9/11 we decided to stay home instead.  I'm sorry to say is now this one if probably out of my league, not sure if I've got any at all left in me.

My congrats to all those runners!
