It doesn't matter how many times it is said, my goal as a Realtor® in an area that has a significant military presence is to help you find a new home in Northern Virginia when PCS orders arrive.
Sometimes you only want to rent and in today's current market that is understandable. Unless you know you will have a return tour to Fort Belvoir, the Pentagon, Quantico or any of the Military District of Washington installations, then renting for a one to three year tour may make sense this time around.
This spring I've had the good fortunate of helping five military families move into rentals in our area. I'm in the process of two applications and am sending listings to three additional families who are in-processing this summer. Every family has different needs and though most agents find rentals to be a waste of time, I realize as a former military spouse that getting your family settled is one of the most critical pieces of your next tour.
Now I'll be the first to admit that I wish that rentals paid more in the dollars and cents category but they pay a lot when you consider the helping hand you are lending to a family who may have to pack up and move every few years.

If you find yourself with orders to the Northern Virginia area and renting is the best option for you then give the Cindy Jones team a call at 703-346-2213. The same great West Springfield neighborhoods (as an example) that you might have considering buying in a few years ago are the same ones you can find a nice rental in today.
